In Rob's own words:
I purchased my Cutlass in March of 1997. I had been looking for a '87 442 locally but had not been able to locate one.  In coarse of my search I came across this one owner '88 CSCB with low mileage. The car was immaculate. I had not realized the they had even made a '88.  The only problem was that many of GM's cars of this age had suffered a paint peeling problem.  This medium blue metallic car was of no exception. Some one had
repainted it and had done a poor job, but body wise this car was very straight. I chose to do a complete repaint original color with a 442 paint theme.  I chose to use the original color, although not a 442 color, because I did not want to try to pass off my car as a factory 442.

I replaced some of the glass and almost all bright trim, emblems & taillights.  I included reproduction H/O hood scoop and rear spoiler. I ordered a complete new grill shell and 442 grill inserts. I had the bumpers stripped of chrome and painted them the 442 lower trim silver. I had the engine rebuilt using as many replacement parts that I could get from the 442 motor. This did not go the way I wanted it because of lack of knowledge on the part of my local Olds Parts Dept. The trans is still original and will be rebuilt and modified next summer.  A local street rod shop, who's owners son is a Grand National Owner, and Probably the most knowledgeable person on 2004R Trans in my area.   Below is a list of modifications to my Olds:

"HYPERTECH" Power Tuned  "FLOWMASTER" Force II cat-back exhaust system
"HOTCHKIS PERFORMANCE" Suspension w/Camaro 11" disc-brakes and spindles.
"Koni" Adjustable shocks
"SUSPESION TECHNIQUES" Front & Rear Sway bars.
Now the car sits 1 1/2" lower in front and 1" lower in the rear.
